The Refuge House

The Refuge House is exactly what the name implies, a refuge created from the instability of gang violence and school closures due to COVID-19. During this time, many parents relocated their children to relatives living outside Cite´ Soleil; but without school, these children had no daily structure and no hot meals. Parents pleaded with us to find a safe place for the kids to be together - a safe place outside of Cite´ Soleil where they could gather, learn, and even stay overnight. The Refuge House provides that place.

If violence escalates in Cite´ Soleil, it’s a secure place for our tutors to work with the children and we are prepared with overnight accommodations for the children and staff. Our goal is always to ensure the children are kept safe, healthy, and educated during rough times, which unfortunately occur frequently.
